suicideTALK is a 1.5 to 2 hours suicide awareness presentation. Organized around the question, "Should we talk about suicide?", it allows participants to safely explore some of the most challenging issues about suicide, including stigma. suicideTALK encourages everyone to find a part that they can play in preventing suicide.
safeTALK is a three hour course that teaches community members to recognize persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. Learn how to: - move beyond the tendancy to miss, dismiss or avoid suicide. - identify people who have thoughts of suicide. - apply the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep safe) to connect a person with suicide thoughts to suicide first aid and intervention caregivers.
ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is suicide first aid. It is a two day course that provides practical training to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. Learn how to: - recognize invitations for help. - reach out and offer support. - review the risk of suicide. - apply a suicide intervention model. - link people with community resources. ASIST is for persons concerned about family and friends, emergency workers, counsellors, teachers, ministers, mental health professionals, health, welfare or justice workers and community volunteers.
suicideCare is a one day, clinically-oriented course for frontline and professional caregivers who work with persons at risk of suicide on a longer term basis. ASIST is a prerequisite.
